Bowdon RUFC U14s are this weekend playing Chester in the final of the Cheshire Bowl (to be played at Anselmians,  Sunday 3rd May, 2.30 KO)

It has been a good season for the team.  We have maintained good numbers, added a couple of new lads to the squad and have benefitted from the Player Pathway introduced by the club at the start of the season in terms of training and ethos. We have enjoyed games against old friends and rivals, whilst also adding some new opposition like Tyldesley and Firwood Waterloo to our fixture list.

Our Cheshire Cup journey started with a home fixture against Ramsay (IoM).  Whilst Bowdon were comfortable winners on the day, it was fantastic to host a great bunch of lads and the game was played in great spirit.

Round 2 took us away to Wirral – always a tough fixture.  In a game where the lead changed hands several times, Wirral came out on top with some strong running in the centres and some real pace on the outside.  Whilst the Bowdon boys were disappointed with the result, they gave everything and we wish Wirral the best of luck in the cup final. We received a bye at the semi finals stage.

Almost all of our playing squad are available for the final – it is a fantastic way to end the season and, win or lose, something the boys will remember for a very long time.

Meet time for the coach to the game is 11.30 a.m. and if you wish to come with us to lend your support to the team please come down early. Return to the club is expected to be around 6pm.

Thanks for your support.

Clive Wilkins
