It is with a very heavy heart we announce the passing of Steve Gibson.

Steve, an ex Burnage Grammar pupil was affectionally known as "Gibbo" and played throughout the late 70's to the mid 80's. His preferred position being hooker he made many an appearance in the 1st XV before taking over the running of the 2nd XV. Off the field he was heavily involved in the social side of club life helping Roy, Trish and the late Brian Flanangan to run the bar when day's and time didn't seem to matter and last orders came at dawn with a pint of milk.

Never to be found without a big beaming smile and a warm welcome Gibbo was often the first person you met when arriving at the club and the first to introduce you to "the Bowdon half". A supporter of many a tour particularly the infamous "French Weekend" he was a stalwart of the club, always fun and supportive. He had a true love of life.

There will only ever be one "Gibbo".

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his brothers Mark & Simon and the wider family.

Rest in peace Gibbo - it was a privelidge and a pleasure - you made many friends on your journey and will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all that knew you.

Details to follow when available.
